It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Certificate Programme in Sanskrit from the July 2009 session.
Sanskrit is one of the most ancient languages of the world and was hitherto the lingua franca of India. The immense interest being shown by people across the globe for studying this language shows the renewed interest in Sanskrit studies in particular and Indological research in general.
The aim of the Certificate Programme is to provide simple, yet adequate knowledge of the Devanagiri script and Sanskrit language to individuals, empowering them to pursue a deeper study of the language and its vast literature.
IGNOU is pleased to be partnering with Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF), a Centre for Sanskrit Research and Indology, for offering this Programme. We do look forward to offering Advanced Courses in Sanskrit in collaboration with CIF in future.
I wish the Programme and its students all success !
